    3. What Bill says is very important to anyone used to searching on the more 'forgiving' LDS site or even the 1881 discs. Scots Origins is very precise. After several visits I found the key to successful searching was the judicious use of the wildcard. eg Ann will not give you Anne, but Ann* will. Basically, the site only chucks out what you ask for. Since this is pay per download, I think it's a plus. But it does take a bit of getting used to. Judy Copywriter@tesco.net

    3. I have also found it useful to write down a name in as many ways as possible ahead of time, one over the other in a columnar fashion. Align all the same letters and then just fill in the odd-ball with the * as Judy said. Example: Mary Ann McLeod Mary Anne MacLeod Mariann M'Cleod Marianne McLoed etc. changes to Mar* M*Leod Mariann* McL**d Mar* Ann* M*C*eod MacL**d etc. Then pick the one that will give you the most bang for your lollie!
