    3. HI everyone, I am new to this list and have joined as I have some information in some documents I have, that I though might be of interest. They all concern a property lying on the East side of "the street called Saint Leonards Wynd leading from the Cowgate.to the high Pleasants" The first document is dated 29th June 1785 and is for a loan of £300 (a lot of money then!) from Thomas TOD merchant to John MEGGET merchant, I think that the property is perhaps used as security or perhaps the money was to purchase the property? I haven't read it all as it is difficult to follow and goes on for over 5 sides of roughly A4!. The document mentions many people including Patrick (HENRY?) Tobaconist Helen SCOULER of Southfield widow of Robert Hunter officer of excise John CRAWFORD stabler James DUN Duncan MacFARLANE Robert SIMPSON John SIMPSON mason William THOMSON James LIBBERTON William SCOULER tanner in Pleasence The second document is dated 14th July 1796 and is to discharge the loan. The 3rd documnent dated 1820 is a"Disposition and Afsignation by Mary STRATTON in favour of Peter FERGUSON. The 4th document is dated 1845 and is a "Charter of Resignation by City of Edinburgh in favour of James FERGUSON Pawnbroker only son of Peter FERGUSON. If you think any information relates to families you are researching then I will examine them more closely and give you further details. Hope this proves of interest.
