Hello Listers, Thankyou to Rena McKenzie for her reply to my posting of the above family. At this time the only other information that I have on Alexander Sinclair is the date for his marriage to Christian Swanson, 30th May, 1828 at Thurso, Caithness, Scotland. They had the following children :- Margaret christened 11 Sept. 1828 Thurso, Janet christened 24th Feb,1830 Thurso, Christian christened 29th Sept 1831 Thurso, William christened 7th Oct 1833 Thurso. There were 2 other children, Alexandrina christened 4th May 1830 and Catharine christened 15th March 1832, both at Thurso , but the parents names were Alexander Sinclair and Catharine Swanson. It is possible that Christian and Catharine may be the same person ? Could Alexander's father be named William ? Regards Dianne Dixon, Christchurch, New Zealand.
Hi, Dianne, Judging by your information, I think it more than likely that you have two families: maybe cousins marrying sisters or even cousins. If the first ones have followed the traditional naming pattern, then Christian's mother will be Margaret and Alexander's Janet. Looking at the ages of the children, Christian & Catherine couln't possibly be the same person but Alexander's father could certainly be William.
