Hello Kay Did you get the info & suggestions I sent you about Hill Burton? Some of his correspondence is in the National Library of Scotland. There seems to have been a major acquisition in the late 80s. I suggest you email the manuscripts division mss@nls.uk to ask if any of the papers refer to his personal affairs, such as the management of his house. It seems Craig House became part of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and is now destined to be a new campus for Napier University. There is a short description on the City of Edinburgh rangers website. I don't know which parish it would have been in in 1871, Morningside seems the obvious one but I suppose Colinton is another possibility. In the list of parishes I have for 1874, Morningside is listed under Edinburgh but Colinton is not, since it was still a separate village.
