Thank you, Val, for clarifying the status of local census indexes. It was mentioned that, for 1851 in Edinburgh, the parishes of Canongate, the Old Town, and New Town had been indexed. So, how many parishes were there then? Can anyone recommend a site that would show a simple map for that time period? Secondly, I'm looking for William NORRIE, age about 10 years - appreciate knowing if he appears in those 1851 indexes. Thanks. Christine
