Hi Ruth, We've spoken before but never could work out if there was a connection. With this new information I can tell you there is! John Lessels & Mary Cairnie are my 4th g-grandparents. I have also spoken to Aird McIntyre but I think I may have given him the information about Geils Hendersone as I seem to remember he said he couldn't prove the connection (the information was passed to me by a researcher many years ago). I didn't know about Isobel Arnot or Janet Galloway so I'll add them to my list. Can you give me some more info on James the cabinet maker? I don't have him listed as being a child of John/Elizabeth Hamilton Murray. I think I have more info somewhere on John the architect as I have been in contact with a gentleman who is a direct descendant of him, if you would like me to look it out. To let you know where I fit in, John & Mary Cairnie's son Thomas b. 7 Mar 1790 married Janet Fotheringham 27 July 1811. Their son Thomas b. 9 Jan 1834 married Elizabeth Spence 25 June 1858. Their son Thomas b. 9 Apr 1859 married Elizabeth Mossman Darney 25 Mar 1890 in Newhaven, Edinburgh. Their daughter Elizabeth Clark Lessels was my grandmother.
