Can anyone tell me whether 64 Canongate was the address of Queensberry House? And whether the poorhouse at 144 Comiston Road in the 1920s was the same one as the poorhouse in Craiglockhart in the 1870s? Many thanks Alan Baillie
Queensberry House was (is?) at 64 Canongate. The whole area around has been demolished to make way for the new Scottish Parliament building. Hopefully Queensberry House still stands and perhaps has been incorporated into the building? At present, I cannot find any information on 144 Comiston Road. There are no entries for that number inthe directories I have looked at. Stuart.
