    3. This is my first posting to your list. I am searching for information on my Grierson family who lived in the Edinburgh, Musselburgh, and Stockbridge areas from at least 1782 till the 1840s. Two boys , James and John, sons of a Lt. James Grierson, R.N., and his wife Elizabeth, were christened in Cowgate Chapel of the Episcopal church in Edinburgh in 1782 and 1783 respectively. Both boys later joined the Royal Navy. In 1808, James, the first-named boy, married an Isabella Simpson of Canongate, daughter of the late John Simpson, a merchant of Edinburgh. In 1812 he used an address of 6 North Richmond St., Edinburgh. In 1817 he remarried a Margaret Ferguson of Aberdeen. The second-named boy, John, in 1806 married an Ann Grinton, of Cramond or Corstorphine, and lived in Stockbridge until 1822. Another Lt. James Grierson, R.N. , born about 1740, (maybe their father and maybe not) lived in Edinburgh or Leith or Musselburgh from at least 1784 till his death in 1810. He married in Canongate in 1794 another Isobel Simpson, the daughter of a tide-waiter at Leith. She received a Naval pension at Musselburgh until the 1840s. I look forward to receiving any and all clues. Doris Hope, Ottawa.
