    1. [EDB] Moffat Andrew, William and Peggy b. approx 1900
    2. jenny
    3. Dear all, I am trying to find information on the siblings Andrew William and Peggy (Margaret) Moffat who would have been born around 1900-1910. Andrew Moffat married twice, first to someone called Ina and then to someone who may have been called Peggy. Andrew owned a dance hall in Edinburgh during the war and formerly was a cable car driver. Sorry it is so vague, but does this sound familiar to anyone? jenny

    3. Dear Everyone I'm new to the list and am trying to find family connected to the parents of Royston Phillip Powell, born 1924 at Uphall. Roy studied medicine at Edinburgh Univ. and married Dorris Bolland from somewhere in England in about 1948. The parents of Roy, were Phillip and Edith Mildred Powell, who lived at Uphall where Phillip was an engineer. Roy was their only child. Edith moved to what was Rhodesia when Roy and Dorris emigrated in about 1950. All are now deceased. That's all I have - any suggestions? Regards ... 3. Hi Sandra and all, James Street does still exist, in Portobello .....I'm sure. My g grandparents, Robert & Margaret LAWSON were living at #13 James Street, Edinburgh in the 1881 census. Not sure when they moved but when their daughter (my Granny) was married in 1903, they were living in Spey Street, which is closer to the city centre. After they were married they lived in Stewart Street which is where my mother was born in 1906. When I was growing up in the 1950s my grandparents' lived in Hutchison Medway and that's where my Granny died in 1955. Be interesting to know if the same houses exist today???? Cheers from NZ, Maureen > Could SKS please tell me if 15 James Street Edinburgh is still in existence? I had an ancestor who lived there prior to coming to Australia. > Sandra. > > ______________________________

If you are looking for information about a former resident or native of Scotland, please post it to the list. ========SCOTLAND-OBITS MAILING LIST================= =============================================== Welcome to the SCOTLAND-OBITS mailing list! You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to SCOTLAND-OBITS as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to SCOTLAND-OBITS-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to SCOTLAND-OBITS-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. 6. To contact the administrator of this mailing list, send mail to SCOTLAND-OBITS-admin@rootsweb.com. For your verification, a transcript of the original subscription request is included below. -- >From RWhighamjr@aol.com Tue Apr 17 00:08:06 2001 >Received: from newmail.rootsweb.com (newmail.rootsweb.com [192.168.1.103]) > by lists5.rootsweb.com (8.10.1/8.10.1) with ESMTP id f3H786n29666 > for <SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@lists5.rootsweb.com>; Tue, 17 Apr 2001 00:08:06 -0700 >Received: from imo-m04.mx.aol.com (imo-m04.mx.aol.com [64.12.136.7]) > by newmail.rootsweb.com (8.11.1/8.11.1) with ESMTP id f3H780U06760 > for <SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@rootsweb.com>; Tue, 17 Apr 2001 01:08:01 -0600 >Received: from RWhighamjr@aol.com > by imo-m04.mx.aol.com (mail_out_v29.14.) id e.d6.5322196 (6695) > for <SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@rootsweb.com>; Tue, 17 Apr 2001 03:08:10 -0400 (EDT) >From: RWhighamjr@aol.com >Message-ID: <d6.5322196.280d45da@aol.com> >Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2001 03:08:10 EDT >Subject: Subscribe >To: SCOTLAND-OBITS-L-request@rootsweb.com >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" >Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit >X-Mailer: AOL 5.0 for Windows sub 128 > >Subscribe > --part1_a5.147b148d.280d4933_boundary--
