Robert DAVIDSON age 27 yrs. marr. Elizabeth MONTGOMERY age 24 yrs. at 48 Prince Albert Buildings 30 th June, 1905. His parents were Robert DAVIDSON & Mary m.s. STEVENSON. Her parents were Peter MONTGOMERY & Helen m.s. DODDS. Is anyone researching this family ?. Elizabeth is the sister of my Grandmother, & I am finding no links to her Siblings. My researcher was unable to find a Death Registration for Elizabeth. I wonder if she remarried at some time, or, they moved to England. As far as I know, they did not emmigrate, but of course may have done so, early, & then lost touch with the family. Mary New Zealand
Hi Dawn Funny that you should post about Adam Robertson as I to have been trying to research a Adam Robertson this weekend. This Adam is a link on my mothers side through Jessie Menzies Robertson. I did find something on the 1891 census that he was living in the parish of St. George and was married to Elsbeth with a son William age 2 yrs. I have been trying to find connections of information to James Robertson as I believe he died somewhere between Jessie's birth and the 1881 census, as Jane is remarried to a Ferguson. I have narrowed it down to six James Robertson's who died in that time span in St. George, using Scots Origins. But to hit on the right one I'd most likely have to order all of the death certificates. That's why I was searching for another clue to help me along. I could not find any record of birth or marriage. The marriage date I have noted is taken off the birth certificate of Jessie. Interesting to note that the first children were born before the noted wedding date, or someone wrote down the wrong date. Also searching Alexander Robertson born Duns 1851, thought he may be related. As his occupation on the 1881 census says he is a Coal carter, and James and his first two sons were coal porter/ coal banks man and third son Francis was a carter. Anyway if any connections to your Robertson's please let me know. Sandra. 1. JAMES ROBERTSON was born Duns Berwick.. He married JANE CRAIG 10 June 1860 in Duns, Berwick, Scotland. Children of JAMES ROBERTSON and JANE CRAIG are: JANE ROBERTSON, b. 06 January 1855. i. JAMES ROBERTSON, b. 26 June 1856. i. ADAM ROBERTSON, b. 06 October 1857, Dunse,Berwick,Scotland. v. FRANCES CRAIG ROBERTSON, b. April 1861. GRACE STEWART ROBERTSON, b. 15 July 1866. 2.vi. JESSIE MENZIES ROBERTSON, b. 19 August 1868, Water of Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.
William MURRAY married Euphemia Dodds MONTGOMERY 22 April 1920, at 4 St Bernard Crescent Edinburgh. He lived 15 Meadowbank Tc. she lived 31 Milton St. Witnesses were John Douglas MURRAY, & Marion MONTGOMERY. Marion was a sister of Euphemia who was probably known as Phemie, & they were sisters of my Grandmother, Janet, or Jenny, who was herself already marr by 1920, living Crieff. I am looking for any connection to the siblings of Janet ( Jenny ) MONTGOMERY.I dont know what children William & Euphemia had, & would like to find out. Mary

The testament is avail in two "jpg" files of 1.01 and 2.44 mb. Richard Robertson
Hello listers, Is there any one out there who has an Adam ROBERTSON, born about 1859 in their collection? Or an Alexander ROBERTSON, born about 1865,or a William ROBERTSON, born about 1868?? They are my grandfather's brothers, and I can't seem to find any trace of them. They are listed on the 1881 census in Edinburgh with their parents and other siblings. I'd love to find out what ever became of them. All three of them were born in Berwick om Tweed, but the family moved to Edinburgh sometime between 1868 and 1871. Their sister Bella Robertson was born in Edinburgh about 1875. Does anyone have her married into their family? Also, might anyone have a ROBERTSON/CLEGHORN connection? Apparently there was a Margaret CLEGHORN, a niece, living with them. I'd live to be able to figure out that connection also. Hope to hear from someone!! Thanks much. Dawn

I am looking for the marriage certificate of David Chapman and Christina Kennedy. They were my father's parents. Christina Kennedy died on December 26, 1902 in St. Boniface, Manitoba about one month after giving birth to my father Joseph William Chapman on November 14, 1902. Apparently my father was adopted and could never trace his ancestry and I would dearly like to trace it now. Anyone with any information, please email me. Thank you, Janet Holburn email: jholburn@direct.ca
Hi!Mary, I haven't been receiving any mail either,I thought I had been unsubscribed too. I must check the archives, maybe things are just a bit quiet at the moment. Eleanor
I have not been receiving any mail from the List. Is this correct or have I been unsubscribed accidentally? Regards Mary McKinlay

Listers...need your help...in the light of my continuous attempts at making my life easier, I have suggested to some that I develop a sustained format for posting on the lists. I need your help. I would like to design a one-format-fits-all form that I [we] could use to send and receive data among ourselves that would make things a lot more organized and straight forward...and less contentious. By now we are all familiar with the IGI fields, those of the OPR, NRH, MI, etc... We are all familiar with the fields in the Family Tree software we use. What I propose is that you help me organize a single form to be used in any and all instances of gathering our personal respective info. Something we all have had a hand in designing. You can get a copy, only if you ask. I will make a copy available to each list admin of the lists I cater too for caching. I am enclosing my suggestion as a start. I need your assistance in adding fields that I have left out due to my ignorance. As I noted above, this is based upon all the entry fields of the various forms that we turn up, such as IGI, OPR, NRH, MI, etc. I have just listed a few items in some relative order. I am going to send this to all my lists and prepare a text file that all can complete and then repost to their lists. It should make this business a lot more organized and cut down on dissension and the wearing discourse. This format, if acceptable, would only accept genealogical info first and then, non-genealogically related info second. Any additional info would be forced to the bottom or the top. Once a lister sees that the "form" is not front and centre, or the format is not adhered to, then they can delete it...it should be obvious to them that it is not genealogically related within the first few seconds. Those that want to read non-gen material would automatically be able to "see" the content orientation and act accordingly. Finally, no mail should be sent without a "Subject" that is not a Surname, Parish, City, County/District or City, or an obviously genealogically related concept, such as birth, death, marriage, MI, SKS, etc. Include coded-symbols with a brief explanation. The list admin, in a few seconds then, should be able to scan and delete/filter any posts that do not conform to this format. My humble suggested start... Please add a field and return this letter to me for editing. By next week I should have it completed and made available in a one time post to all my lists. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- INDIVIDUAL'S RESOURCE FORM The best format uses the least number of characters. Only include the most essential data. Use symbols to reduce input. One person per post. Code: ? for data needed [?] for data had, but confused: e.g. Stewart/Stuart [?] +/- for unsure dates / for alternatives: e.g. Jessie/Janet/Jean/Jane 1. Surname... 2. Christian Name... 3. Event... 4. Parish... 5. City... 6. County or District... 7. Country... 8. Church... 9. Officiating Clergy... 10. Officiating Registrar... 11. Event: Year/Month/Day Birth... 12. Marriage... 10. Death... 11. Father [Surname, Christian Name]... 12. Mother ... 13. Siblings... Any further information, on any other persons associated with this individual, may be included in an additional attached form in a second mailing. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Use this field below for particulars that would assist the researcher or SKS, on your behalf. ==================================================================== Hope this helps some...it will certainly help me. Could some kind soul please look up the surname CRICHTON on the 1881 census for Edinburgh please? The head of the household should be ROBERT CRICHTON, his wife MARGARET and the only child's name I have is JAMES. The only other information I have is that I believe they were married in 1875 in the Newington, Edinburgh area. Those of you with Kinloch ancestors might be interested in a book that I recently had a chance to look at. The title is: "The trial of Sir Archibald Gordon Kinloch, of Gilmerton, bart., for the murder of Sir Francis Kinloch, bart., his brother-german." Printed in Edinburgh by C. Denovan for J. Elder and G. G. and J. Robinson, London, 1795. The Library of Congress Control Number is 28007472, and a copy is held in the rare books of the Law Library Reading Room of the Library of Congress. To make a long story short, Sir Archibald served in the military in St. Lucia and survived an infection that killed 2,800 men out of a 5,000 man contingent. He was never the same mentally though. One night he shot Sir Francis who died about a day later. The servants held Sir Archibald and he was eventually arrested and tried. He was found guilty of the murder, but insane and the judge sentenced him to a mental institution with the provision that if someone wanted to care for him and would pledge 5,000 pounds (I think that is the correct amount) that Archibald could be released to their care. Sure enough, an Edinburgh surgeon made the pledge and cared for Archibald. A very civil ending to a precedent setting trial! Richard Robertson
