    3. Hi Sheena, Unfortunately, I didn't have time to return to Edinburgh to do further research before leaving for home so am afraid I don't know who Jane STEWART's parents were. If it's of any help, Janet ANDERSON was age 28 at time of marriage and lived at 7 Brighton Street. I assume Jane ANDERSON, a witness, was her sister. The only other information I have, not included in my previous message, was that Andrew Matthew BAIRD & Betsy DUNCAN were married in Leven. Betsy's parents were William DUNCAN & Catherine THOMSON. Regards, Karen Fraser

    3. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and on a recent research trip to Scotland, found one of my ancestors residing in Edinburgh. Of course, there's never enough time for research but I was able to find: Matthew BAIRD, son of James BAIRD & Ann HARDIE of Ferry Port on Craig, Fife and Catherine LAUDER, daughter of Andrew LAUDER & Jane ALISON of Edinburgh, were married at 25 Bread Street in 1864. In 1871, they were living at 4 Livingstone Place. Children were: James, b 1865 (married Margaret GILBERT in 1895); Andrew Lauder, b 1867; John Robb Matthew, b 1869 and William Lauder, b 1875. Andrew Lauder BAIRD, music teacher & Janet ANDERSON, daughter of George ANDERSON & Jane STEWART, were married at the Maitland Hotel in 1895. Son, Andrew Matthew was born 1901 (married Betsy DUNCAN) and son, George Anderson was born 1906. If anyone is researching any of these families, I'd love to hear from you. Yes, it still exists. There is a very useful map of Royal Mile closes at http://www.edinburgh-royalmile.com/closes/royalmile-closes.html and there's a link to Hyndford's Close between Niddry Street and St Mary's Street in the left-hand column. Notice how a red dot appears on the map when you position the cursor over the name of a close. See http://www.edinburgh-royalmile.com/closes/close-hyndfords.html for a small photo.
