Surnames: dickson/Thomson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XeC.2ACI/734.750.1 Message Board Post: Hi Lynne, I saw a posting of yours in the East Lothian Rootsweb message Board. This is a long shot, but here goes. I've been searching for my g grandparents, Archibald Dickson, b. abt. 1820 in Scotland. I found an Archibald Dickson in the 1841 Scottish Census living with his parents, Andrew Dickson and Janet Thomson in East Lothian Whittinghame. I found on the LDS site an Archibald Dickson, b. Dec. 24, 1820 East Lothian, in Whitekirk to Andrew Dickson and Janet Thomson...so the date of Archie's birth is abt. right. My g grandfather Archibald Dickson md., an Isabella (unknown). Archibald and Isabella had three children in Scotland before coming to America in abt. 1849/1850. In the Scot census of 1841 where I found my Archibald living with Andrew Dickson...the household also shows an Isobel (same age as Archibald) and a 3 wk. old infant. I'm hoping that this is their first child, John who was b. abt. 1840/1841, and a George, age 15 (probably Archibald's brother. Archibald and Isabella Dickson had two morw children while in Scotland, Adam, b. Aug. 24, 1845 and Annie, b. Apr. 1848. Lynne, you are the first person I saw to post on a Dickson Line from the East Lothian Area so I had to take the shot to see if any of my Dickson line may ring a bell. Thanks for reading my email. Take Care, Melinda
