The surnames I have the most interest in are: NELSON ORMISTON SMITH LITSTER CAIRNS As well as the above names, I'm looking for anyone who can help me with info on Captain Peter Nelson. As his obituary reads, "he expired in Castlegate". It goes on to say he came off a good Berwickshire stock, and his early years were passed in Mordington Parish, where his father was tenant of Lamb's Mill. He was educated at the Parish School, under the late Mr. Logan and joined the Royal Artillery, 14th Brigade, about the time of the Crimea War. He spent over thirty years' service in India, but returned to his residence in Berwick after. He apparently loved to dwell on the incidents of his boyhood days, passed on the banks of the Whitadder, by Tibbir Fowler's Glen and the Langdyfieldt. If anyone can provide any info on anything in the above, I would greatly appreciate your help. I descend from a younger brother who immigrated to Canada in 1867 but have found myself drawn t6o Captain Peter Nelson. Thank you for your time. Heather
