Hello List: I know these names are not exactly ELN surnames, but my family did live in ELN for a few years :) My research interest in East Lothian is the family of George Mowat and Jane/Jean Sutherland who lived in Haddingtonshire from c. 1854 to c.1891, to the best of my knowledge. Details: George Mowat, b. 21 Oct 1822 in Mey, Canisbay, CAI > Canada c. 1891 Jane Sutherland, b. 11 Oct. 1824? in Castletown, Olrig, CAI > Canada c. 1891 Married 26 May, 1845, in Castletown, Olrig, CAI CHILDREN: Ann/Annie Mowat, b. c.1846 in Olrig, CAI >married William ANDERSON of Edinburgh> Canada c.1885 Henry Mowat, b. c.1849 in Olrig, CAI > Canada pre 1877 George Mowat b. 22 Feb. 1852, Olrig, CAI > England > Canada pre 1891 Barbara Mowat, b. c.Oct. 1854 in Haddington, Haddingtonshire, ELN > Canada pre 1877 James Mowat b. 26 Sept. 1857 in Dirleton, ELN > Canada pre 1881 Robert Mowat b. 21 Aug. 1859 at Dirleton, ELN > Canada pre 1881 Jane Mowat b. 07 Mar. 1862 at Haddington, Haddingtonshire, ELN. David Mowat b. 15 Sept. 1865 at Aberlady, ELN. I have no idea what became of Jane and David and have been unable to trace an immigration for either. I appear to have hit a bit of a brick wall. Any help will be appreciated. I do know, per the 1881 Census, that Jane was a "confectioner" in Haddington. Sorry about the sketchy dates above, but they are the best I have been able to find from a variety of records. Good hunting all, Marilyn
