Hi Cath, I have a GRANT puzzle: My 4xgt grandmother was Margaret GRANT born in 1745 in Ormiston, ELN, apparently to William GRANT & Margaret SNADEN. There seems to be no record of their marriage & no other children but there is a marriage in Fife of a James GRANT & Margaret SNADEN and they had 3 children, one in Inveresk in 1743, the other two in Ormiston in 1750 & 1756 respectively. Given that GRANT & SNADEN are not exactly common names thereabouts, do you think the christening record for my Margaret is incorrect? I suspect 1745 in East Lothian could have been quite an interesting time! Margaret GRANT married William KINGHORN also of Ormiston & they ended up in Inverleith in the mid-1770s. None of their children was called William but they did have a James. Any ideas/suggestions welcome! I have a little 1841 census info but didn't find any Macaulays.
