I have just joined and am trying to trace my great great grandfather's family. He was a David Scott and seemed to reside in the Yester and Gladsmuir areas. He was born in 1827 and married a Helen Burns in Yester. I am trying to get information on both families so if anyone can help I shall be most grateful. The other names I am trying to find out more about are Hogg, Bruce and McAlpine all in the East Lothian area. I hope someone can help or even trying to trace the same line somewhere. Hi Moira, Looking for the family of Mary MCALPINE, daughter of John & Agnes MCALPINE. She was born c. 1854 & married George CROLL in Glasgow in 1884. Daddy was a ploughman. Would be grateful to hear of any connections. Hi Sheena My GGG grandfather was a William McAlpine who was born in 1809. He married a Helen Wright in 1857 at the age of 48 at Glencorse in Midlothian and he was a ploughman at that time. He later became a dairyman and had a dairy at Bellwood, Glencorse. He was a widower at the time of their marriage but I do not know if he had any family to his first wife. Helen Wright and William McAlpine became the parents of my gggrandmother Helen McAlpine who was born in 1859. William's parents were Thomas McAlpine and Elizabeth Anderson and I have not yet checked to see if they had other children. Let me know if you find any connection to this.
