Thomas Sinclair, probably from Waas (Walls) Shetland, according to the World War One Roll of Honour, captain of Salvesens vessel s.s. Neko, and torpedoed 14:03:1917 on s.s. Coronda. Later on he seems to have been instrumental in recruiting Shetlanders to the Antarctic whaling, but had to leave Salvesens following a dispute with the colonial office. An article appears in the Shetland News, c.1921 about him. He was probably based in the Leith/Edinburgh area. Angus Johnson, Shetland Archives. [email protected] [email protected]
