    3. Hi all, I have just rejoined the list. This is to let you know I have extended my research on the SKED, SKEAD etc families and am tying them to all the towns around Dunbar and into Edinburgh back to late 1600s. Many were blacksmith early on, becoming engineers and more complex related occupations later on. Around Edinburgh many were in the printing trade or fishing folk on the coast. I would love to hear from anyone with suggestions of how to discover more and anyone with connections. To date I have used 1881 census. Britsh Vitals Family search. Cousins etc. I am wondering about any census before 1881? what is available please? kind regards Marg O'Leary Port Stephens NSW

    3. Hi Marg, My ancestor David Clapperton married Christian Sked(marriage not reg) and they had the following children in Innerwick, Katherine 1780, Christian 1783and George 1785 I haven't managed to fit them in the tree yet (I'm doing a one name study on my Clapperton ancestors) but I hope I will eventually.Katherine appears to have married James Black in 1801.I think David was born 1744 to James Clapperton and Katherine Speers and he may have married a second wife Jean Graeme and they had David 1800,Isabel 1802,Jean 1805,Christian 1807 and James 1814.
