My gr x 4 grandmother Grizel Johnston b. 1782 Tranent, was a convict transported to Australia in 1811 on 'Friends'. She had been tried in 1808. On the way to Australia she gave birth to a son, John Eddington. She stated that his father was also John Eddington, although on his death certificate it states that his father was Adam Eddington, a fisherman. I'm not sure what is true and what isn't but their are some descendants of this John Eddington in Australia. Although I have tried to contact them, no success as yet. I'm not sure what connection this has to your research but you never know what will turn up. Regards Jenny Long
