I have just received word from HMSO in Edinburgh that the webmaster of the East Lothian GenWeb project has been granted permission to publish transcripts of the 1861 census for East Lothian parishes on the Internet. As soon as the document is signed and returned by post, we will be working on getting the first three parishes -- Aberlady, Athelstaneford, and Bolton -- online. This was something that was initiated almost two years ago after a very kind woman in Canada offered to share her transcripts with us. Thanks so much for your patience and hopefully by the end of the summer we'll have some results. Will keep the list posted!
