The marriage transcription for George PRYDE is as follows. Number 2, on the 19th September 1865, after banns at Pencaitland, according to the Forms of the Free Church of Scotland. George PRYDE age 28 yrs., Residence, Huntlaw, , coal miner, Bachelor parents William PRYDE Coal miner Janet KING marr Helen HERRIOT age 28 yrs., Res. Pencaitland, House Servant, parents John Herriot Grocer, & Ann RICHARDSON . witnesses Robert Herriot & Christian SIMPSON. Christian Simpson is most probably the daughter of Marion King ( who was a sister of Janet, ) & William Simpson. Death reg. Transcription for Janet KING ; Number 20, 5th April 1884, single place of death 5 front st., Cuthill, Prestopans age 86 yrs. cause of death of natural decline, informant, George PRYDE son, present. Her parents named John KING coal miner dec. & Janet maiden name WILSON dec. There is another transcription East Lothian Deaths, No. 4, Elizabeth PRYDE age 22 months, 14 th Feb., 1861 at Huntlaw parents George PRYDE & Helen pryde maiden name Herriot. I did not note the cause of death, but further down noted that there were several deaths from measles in 1861.
