Hello, I am posting my East Lothian interests for the first time on this list. BEGBIE, Thomas born June 28th 1823 and christened July 14, 1825 in Athelstaneford. According to the parish records he was born "in fornication" to Matthew BEGBIE and Mary HERIOT. In 1841 Thomas was apprenticing as a tinsmith and living on Hardgate Street, Haddington. By 1851 he had moved to Newcastle upon Tyne and working as a tinsmith until his accidental death in 1875. BEGBIE, Matthew born about 1777. In 1841 he was living in Haddington with his wife Margaret FAIR and their children Mary and James. Matthew was a coach wright or coach builder and died Dec 27, 1858 and was buried in Prestonkirk churchyard. HERIOT, Mary. I know little of her other than she is Thomas' mother according to the Athelstaneford parish christening records of 1825. Does anyone have a family connection? Regards, Barb White Rock, B.C., Canada
