William Anderson was in the 1841 Census of Prestonkirk,Green Loan? with wife Joan daughter Jessie son George daughter Agness son Frances both born in Prestonkirk after that I have no clue what happened to William or how to find anything furthur back. Best Regards Elizabeth
I am trying to find record of a marriage for Lt. Col. James Stuart who was a son of Robert Stuart 7th Lord Blantyre and brother of 8th, 9th and 10th Lords. He was killed 17 March, 1781 at Battle of Guil(d)ford. His three children, Anna Maria (m. Thomas Brooke EIC), James Stuart EIC and Charles Stuart EIC were beneficiaries in the Will of their uncle, Hon. Charles Stuart (brother of Lt. Col. J.Stuart) of New Norfolk Street, Park Lane , London when he died in 1821. Anna Maria was apparently illegitimate but her two brothers may not have been. Other niece & nephew (beneficiaries in will) were Oliver and Margaret Colt children of Charles's sister Helen Colt of Half Moon Street, London. Any help or suggestions ??? Thanks, Eileen Pye, Brisbane.
Does anyone recognise a connection to the following? William BEGBIE married Marion INGLIS in Ormiston in 1746. Their daughter, Helen, born there in 1748, married John KINGHORN, also in Ormiston, in 1771. Best wishes, Sheena Ireland
Thanks George The following entry is interesting. Apr 24 George Gothrie at Coalston. I am researching the COALSTON name but hadn't realised there was a place by that name. Hi folks, I saw this phrase on an email a few weeks ago , and cleverly copied it to save for later use. I , not so cleverly, forgot to also copy its translation to English. It is :" Cuimhnich air no daoine bho'n d'thanaig thu". Which I believe to be " remember your fathers before you" - which is what we are doing on this genealogy quest of ours. Can anyone enlighten me or tell me the correct meaning of this? . regards, Gary in Vancouver
I'd love to see these --- I have a 3xgt-grandfather who was a mining engineer in E Lothian. (continued later) The records of Burial transcribed as written, punctuated and spelt. Interesting the distinction of age the scribe used without giving an exact are in years. Also no reference to Mort Cloth fees or bell ringing costs. My interest in this extract was DAVID WALLACE Gardener in Newhall, he left a large and young family. His widow ALSION REIDPATH may have married again in the Yester area. Please let me know if you come across her in your research. Thanks. Regards George Wallace
G'Day Anonymous / edisup1@attglobal.net Sorry, no DUNBAR families in my database. Cheers Baden Dingwall OZ BadenWD@bigpond.com << Have you run across any Dunbar families in your research? G'Day Barb I am afraid I can't add too much more than my original post except the 7 children of James / Jessie DINGWALL ( nee BEGBIE ) were all born in Haddington East Lothian, 1860 - 1888. Cheers Baden Dingwall OZ. I have a line of BEGBIEs from Samuelston and Gladsmuir. Almost all of them were blacksmiths. I would be interested to hear from anyone else connected to the family of Thomas Begbie and Agnes Hill who married at Gladsmuir on 23 June 1837 and had the following children: Thomas 1838; Christian (Christina) 1839; Peter Hill 1842; William 1845; Janet March 1849 and an unamed male born 1853 who only lived for 3 weeks. I have details of this family back to Andrew Begbie born about 1680. Doreen Baxter Scotland.
Hello List I have just re-subscribed after a lengthy absence. Hope you are all well and the research is providing results. Spent day in Haddington this May and have a few postings of extra OPR listings I will add to the list as I get time. My own research is still hitting that brick wall circa 1777 with the marriage of WILLIAM WALLACE and JANET RENTON still have no confirmed parents for either. Best regards George Wallace (WestYorkshire)
