Hi Conrad, I have been transcribing various records from the Haddington OPR film, I currently have on loan, what a bonanza, I have over 90 entries so far! Including the baptisms of James & Helen's 13 children, looks like I missed your John, but I'll go back & check, included was Peter Forrest in 1814. You may recall me about a year ago, I thought that your ancestor & my Peter were brothers or at least cousins, but the only thing I had to go on was the Pringle middle name in Peter's grandchildren & Peter's son was born in Uitenhage. At the time I suggested Haddington as a likely place for both FORREST's to have come from and suggested you join this list which you did. I have since got Peter FORREST's South African Death Notice, aged 50 in 1864 It is amazing how things go full circle. cheers John Dods New Zealand >Hi Dorothy, > >Any connection to a FORREST? > >My ancestor John FORREST was born in Haddington on the 21 August >1808, the son of James FORREST and Helen PRINGLE, who married >on the 2nd Nov 1798 in Haddington. > >Helen was the daughter of Thomas PRINGLE and Isabel KNOX. > >If there is a connection I would love to hear more from you. In your data Base for PRINGLE, do you have Euphemia JEFFREY ( 1827 ) married to William PRINGLE on 19 July 1844 in Stow ? Mary > I have almost 3,000 Pringle relatives on the computer, but no Sinton. Sorry > >
Hi Judy - I have four Euphemia's in my database but none married to Thomas Elder. Sorry about that. Dorothy

Sorry, I don't. I have been concentrating on the Pringle's in 1700's in Pencaitland, as I have run up against a glitch in that time period. Dorothy
I have almost 3,000 Pringle relatives on the computer, but no Sinton. Sorry
Hi Mary Jo, I have found most of my information from marriage/death certificates in Australia and then a couple of marriage certificates in Scotland-local parish records. The rest from IGI. Sorry I haven't been able to offer any great insights. The Scottish on both my side and my husbands sides remain elusive to say the least. My ancestral records reveal that Katherine Yule was married to David Pringle on January 27, 1727 at Templehall. They had 7 children: David (1727), Andrew (1730), George (1732), Janet (1734), Robert (1737), James (1739) (my ancestor) and John ((1742). They were all baptised at Templehall. 1871 Ann DAVIDSON ( parents George Davidson & Marion King, ) married Robert HOGG . He was age 52 a Widower, living Dunsdale Haugle, Selkirk. Ann age 43, was living 31 Chesters St Edinburgh. Parents of Robert were Thomas HOGG & Minnie PRINGLE. Ann was probably past the child bearing age for those times, however, in 1851 . She may of course had a child prior to marriage. Mary
I have John KING Bap. Oct 1770, in Gladsmuir, son of John KING & Janet DUNCAN. He had siblings, Agnes 1768, George 1774, Helen 1777, Janet 1784, Mary

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bourhill Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/5538/XeC.2ACI/1163.1.2 Message Board Post: William, I would be interested in a copy of your Bourhill families as the naming pattern of Henry with son Thomas fits our family research. Thank you Allan
Hi everyone. I said last night that I had details of 3 HOGG families. Here they are: Henry DUNCAN and his wife Irene HOGG (may be Jean rather than Irene though) had a son William, born 7 August 1815. No other details about them. William HOGG, Collier, Newtown, marxried Jane Duncan of Gladsmuire on 15 Oct 1824 no other details James Duncan, Collier, Newtown, married Jane HOGG of Gladsmuir on 22 March 1826. Their children with their birth dates are: William Duncan 26 Aug 1827 Jane Duncan 5 Nov 1829 John Duncan 25 May 1832 James Duncan 2 Jul 1834 Isabella Duncan 1 Jul 1838 John Duncan 6 Sept 1840 (can we assume the first John died?) George Duncan 20 Dec 1842 That's all I have on my index cards. I can probably chase down the film number if anyone required it. Please note that it's NEWTOWN above not Newton. It was a village just outside Pencaitland, on the road to Macmerry. It used to be a thriving town of colliers, now it's just 2 cottages in the middle of nowhere! The DUNCANs are the line I'm following, I have a George Duncan, born 1810 (parents James Duncan & Maitland Duncan). George married Catherine Mackay of Boggs in Pencaitland in Nov 1836. I don't know anything much about Catherine. George and Catherine had 10 children, of which my GGGgrandfather Hugh was one. Maitland Duncan's parents were Francis Duncan and Clementina Currie/Curry - who came from Airth in Stirling. Always happy to meet new 'cousins' Fiona in Wellington, New Zealand, where the weather is fining up now that we're in Autumn! PS Alison Armstrong - Maggie's email is maggieingram@tetney56.freeserve.co.uk in case you didn't get her latest posting.
Hi all, I am new to this list and am hoping someone can help me break down some of my brick walls. James TROTTER bn abt 1790, haddington, Dunbar, East Lothian, Shepherd/labourer. James married Elizabeth WATSON 1810, Edinburgh, Scotland, but the marriage is recorded in Dunbar. (From Parochial Register, Haddington, Dunbar) as well as Edinburgh. Elizaberth was the daughter of Thomas Watson, Shepherd. She was of the parish of Whitingham. Their children were: William born 1812, Whitekirk, East Lothian Thomas born 1817, Whitekirk, East Lothian James born 1819, Whitekirk, East Lothian, emigrated to Australia I have information onward from James jnr and am happy to share. Cheers Margot Gladstone, QLD Australia
