    3. Hi Colette, My husband is descended from Alison CRAISE's brother Robert CRAISE. Do you have any more information about the LAWSON as Robert's son married Elizabeth LAWSON about 1815. I have not been able to find anything about her family yet. She married a Robert Sinclair, although it is actually the Sinclair line that I am following. In the 1871 census Margaret would have been approx. 38 yo, so I am assuming that she was born around 1832. I wonder if there is a connection with your Dickson family. Robert Sinclair was a local fisherman. Plus, Alexander seems to be a family name--mind you it seems that all families used the same names over and over again! Fiona Lindner(Sinclair)

    2. Julie Workman
    3. Hello I have joined this list after discovering the village/town of Stenton. I was hoping somebody here would have access to some sort of records to check to see if any of what I am about to write appears in the history of the town or surrounds. I have a whaler born to Thomas WORKMAN and Sarah ROGERSON in Edinburgh in 1817, his name was John Stenton WORKMAN. I know no more of his family except that he arrived in New Zealand on a whaling barque called the William Stoveld in 1835, the master was an Alexander DAVIDSON and was also his uncle. John gave all his 9 children here in New Zealand the middle name STENTON or STANTON (transcription errors?) On his burial notice his parents names appear and also an occupation for his father was "Coach Proprietor", his birth date and place of birth. Family lore here in NZ has always been that the WORKMAN's were boat builders on the Clyde (before or after John arrived in NZ ??) Any help really appreciated. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Regards Julie Workman New Zealand http://members.tripod.com/julieworkman/index.htm http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~julesw/ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 3. Hi everyone: I'd be interested in hearing from anyone researching the above name. I'm posting on behalf of a very distant cousin in Australia who has traced our 3 x great grandfather Thomas ROSEBERRY to being born in Atholstaneford around 1780. He went on to marry Bridget SALMON/D around 1802 in Sunderland, Co. Durham in the Scotch Presbyterian church. They went on to have at least nine children, Mary, Matthew, David, Jane, Thomas, James, Ann, Bridget and William. Linda, Ontario, Canada.
