    2. Hi Not a dumb question, The Origins site search is very specific ref-spelling. Have you tried using the wild cards in the name as both given and surname can have a dazzling number of corruption's? Also allow for transcription errors as handwriting and preservation of the documents can cause odd results. Did you check both male and female buttons when you searched? I have a WILLIAM WALLACE lawful DAU to DAVID WALLACE in my tree!! Having said all that I do not have a sound enough knowledge of the various denominations and their records to confirm that Origins have ALL posible records.

Durham where all his family are baptised in the Scotch Presbyterian church. Unfortunately I'm in Canada, so don't have access to local records. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Census Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XeC.2ACI/1085 Message Board Post: I am excited to announce the launch of the Scotland Free Census project. This is part of the larger UK Free Census project (aka FreeCEN) that aims to transcribe ALL the UK 19th century census returns to create an online 'free-to-view' database. We have a project covering the 1841 returns for Ayrshire and would like to recruit organizers to cover the rest of the 1841 Scottish returns. Organizers recruit and supervise a team of volunteers to transcribe a county or part of a county. The area you cover is up to you. To be an organizer, you just need some time, a computer and access to a microfilm or microfiche reader. This is a global on-line project for ordinary family historians who are interested in contributing to their hobby. If, like us, you believe that this information should be freely available and available for free, just drop me a line at [email protected] More information on the project can be found at: http://www.speakeasy.org/~jgribble/scotland.html Thank you, Jennifer Gribble Scotland Recruiter & Ayrshire Coordinator UK FreeCEN Project http://www.speakeasy.org/~jgribble/scotland.html

In other words does Scots Origins have all parish records on line? Looking for Thomas ROSEBERRY born approx. 1780 in Atholstaneford. 3. New to the list – Looking for any BRIER(S) information in the region of the Tyne – especially Alexander BRIER(S) and family c1769. This is a new avenue of research which I am hoping will breakdown a ‘brick wall’ – Family stories relate to a ‘Scotch Alex’ coming from ‘north of the Tyne’ and there is an IGI entry for Alexander BRIER(S) being born in Scotland 9 September 1769 although this is likely to be an entry by his Mormon Pioneer descendants. Any information relating to the BRIER(S) families would be sincerely appreciated. Kevin P. Dodson Yorksgen List Admin --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 3. Hi Alison, You probably already have the following details from the IGI, but just in case you don't: Hall LAING Sex: M Marriage(s): Spouse: Jane GUTTREY Marriage: 22 Jul 1799 Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Source Information: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Batch number: Dates Source Call No. Type Printout Call No. Type M005992 1788-1808 0093839 Film 6902852 Film Sheet: In answer to your other questions, it would be Dunbar in East Lothian, the NB being short for North Berwick I would think. Dunbar was (and still is) a fishing port, so he wouldn't have learned his trade there - more likely to have been in Leith, Edinburgh (about 28 miles from Dunbar, but he may have moved there temporarily), or as you suggest, Liverpool. Hope this helps.
