    1. Re: [SCT-EAST-LOTHIAN] Re-Posting request Wallace
    2. Roger and List Thanks for the correction MARRION was dau., to WILLIAM WALLACE and JANET MENNINS . WILLIAM WALLACE and JANET MENNINS married 04/06/1763 It was this couple that had sons named GEORGE b 25/05/1766 and JOHN b 03/04/1768 who may have been the witnesses JOHN and GEORGE WALLACE at the christening of my G.G.G.G. Grandfather's second daughter JANET 27/08/1786 in Haddington and again for MARGARET 15/03/1789 Haddington. It could be coincidence but in the next generation my G.G.G.Grandfather,s second daughter JANET,s christening 22/09/1816 in Aberlady was witnessed by a GEORGE WALLACE. Anyway back to the plot. The two WILLIAM and JANETs are distinctly different couples as born out by the respective marriage dates and span of birth dates, (it was suggested that the WILLIAM was the same and on his second marriage but the birth dates do not bear this out). What I am trying to do is prove/disprove the next couple of generations back in my WALLACE line as the documented evidence peaters out. Positive so far last documented couple:- WILLIAM WALLACE m JANET RENTON 5thApril 1777 Saltoun. Cautioners were for the groom WILLIAM RENTON for the bride THOMAS RENTON Issue HELEN 16/03/1778 Saltoun Blind Walls WILLIAM 09/04/1780 Bolton Kirkland THOMAS 13/03/1782 Bolton Westfild WILLIAM 18/07/1784 Gladsmuir JANET 27/08/1786 Haddington MARGARET 15/03/1789 Haddington MARTHA MATILDA 23/11/1791 Dirleton I had taken the view that my WILLIAM was the son of DAVID WALLACE and ALISON REIDPATH m 23 June 1748 Bolton being their 4th son and having a brother GEORGE tipped me in that direction despite WILLIAM not using David or Alison to name his children ( advice from one lister was to ignore the naming rule but after generations of rule following I got a little nervous about that ) So here I am going round in circles again, have I made the right connection to DAVID and ALISON ? or should I still be out there looking for a WILLIAM WALLACE born to a WILLIAM WALLACE and JANET something circa 1750 ? Now if that lot has not put you to sleep or driven you mad yet then think-on that I have scoured Origins, visited Haddington and area and posted any number of similar posts and cannot fathom this. Suggestions for other search media, what dusty corner have I not looked in? any help gratefully accepted. Regards George Wallace (Yorkshire)

Intersting, however, is the fact that one of them was married to a Margaret Lamb. Would be interested to hear from you. My email is: [email protected] Thank you.

Please don't confuse the register of burials with the recording of the memorial inscriptions (MIs) on gravestones etc. which is what I requested on my initial posting, and which is what I still need.
