Hello, With a target was broad as plain as John Wilson I realise my chances of success are remote but I thought I should share what I have managed to get from IGI to date, and hope someone can help me progress a bit further. John Wilson born Alloa 1761 married Mary Forbes also born in Alloa in the same year. They married in Alloa in(1793), the brackets I am assuming means the date is doubtful/estimated Their son John was born in Alloa on 24th November 1794, which sounds logical but John Wilson junior married Sarah Wilson in Alloa on 22nd September 1781, which certainly does not. The dates are obviously not correct in one obvious instance and maybe others, but then all entries in IGI are subject ot human error, aren't they? Thanks, Nick

They lived in Alloa after they got married in 1770, and he worked for a Mr. Erskine as a labourer in 1775. They were still living in Alloa in 1793 when their last child was born. Can anyone look up them up in the pre 1855 M.I.'s ? Thanks, Daryl Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thanks, Pat. I've traced the rest of the family, but Andrew. I'm abt 9o % certain that the Andrew who died in Alloa in 1971 is the one, but I was hoping to get an obituary or something to confirm his parents were indeed William and Agnes. Do cemetery records in Scotland usually have parents listed? I've try Sunnyside. Thanks again. Hello, again. I just found that William NEWELL GARDNER, born 1943 died 2009 in Clackmannan, was the grandson of Andrew NEWELL who died in 1971 in Alloa. Any help in finding this family would be greatly appreciated. I especially need to confirm that Andrew NEWELL (1895-1971) was the son of William NEWELL and Agnes CRAWFORD. Thanks in advance again for any help/advice. The county had about 18 schools in 1880. You might like to look at the information from Groome's Gazetteer for both the town and the county. It's on this website http://www.scottish-places.info/ The town of Clackmannan seems to have had two schools, though I could only see one on the associated historic map.
