Good morning Mary, I notice you have DEMPSTER in your line and wonderd if you had any DEMPERSTON or DRYSDALES there too? While I was researching my DRYSDALES and DEMPERSTONS I came across the DEMPSTER name but did not pursue it, maybe I should go back and have another look. I have just made contact with a descendant of my ggg grandmother's brother who lives in Edinburgh, he is now checking some of our DRYSDALES, I might suggest he look for any DEMPSTERS. My ggg grandmother's father was a WIlliam DRYSDALE and mother Elizabeth DEMPERSTON, I am sure when I ws checking Elizabeth's line I found her mother was a DEMPSTER ot the name DEMPSTER and DEMPERSTON were interchangeable, were you aware of that? My DRYSDALES AND DEMPERSTONS came from the Alva/Tullabody/Tillacoultry/Dollar area. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely Colin Liddell. ------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 14, 2011 3:10 AM Subject: Re: [SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE] Marshall family > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: Kamael2 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.clk.general/519.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Hi Kinshoni: > I have Elizabeth Marshall, b. 01 Jan 1794; d. 19 Jul 1890, both in > Tullibody; m. Hi Colin: Yes, I do have a connection to the Drysdales. My great aunt, Christina Mitchell Dempster married John Cunningham, son of Robert Cunningham and Catherine Drysdale. If I am remembering correctly, some of my family worked on a Drysdale farm. You are correct about the name "Dempster" morphing from "Demperston" and also "Demperstone" and "Dempstertoun". I have several "Elizabeth Dempsters" but no marriages and I don't have Ancestry right now to check it out! Would be pleased to meet another cousin if we find a connection. There probably is a connection considering the Tullibody, etc. area. You could possibly try an enquiry on Rootschat and see if they can come up with anything, but it is a problem with illegitimate births, have the same problem countless times and unless she applied for paternity etc. Hopefully someone from Rootschat may be able to put you on the right path..they are more knowledgable than me LOL Regards Pat Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
