Hi, In the NSW bdm there is a listing of a death for Elizabeth Davidson in 1866 in Armidale NSW. Her parents are listed as William & Janet Davidson. So this looks like your Elizabeth. www.bdm.nsw.gov.au Lorraine Bower in OZ. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 03, 2007 12:12 AM Subject: [SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE] Elizabeth Roy Davidson b:1840 > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: kelli250z69 > Surnames: Davidson > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.clk.general/456/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Hello, I would really appreciate any help with Elizabeth Roy Davidson b 7 > mar 1840 to William Davidson and Janet Graham. Author: jmgrgr1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.clk.general/455.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Lookup the birth registration for your grandfather. The Scottish General Register Office will list the Maiden Surname (abbreviated as M.S.) of the mother on the birth record for each child registered in Scotland after 1854. You can access the Scottish GRO records online at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/, a pay site. Once you know her maiden name, you can search for their marriage. If it was before 1876, it'll be listed in the LDS IGI at http://www.familysearch.org. For a Scottish wedding registration, the bride and groom would have had to list their parents names and occupations. If the wedding was in England, it would not have been registered at the Scottish GRO. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You could try Scotland's People for a marriage certificate for them which should give you her surname. That has saved me a journey. It seems that each town seems to have lost most of its old buildings, usually for retail development or new roads. Oh, well, that's progress!! Thanks again. I hope you are feeling better. I am in la bella Italia and it is so beautiful and sunny and warm, unlike weather in the UK from what Ive heard. Thanks so much again, I now have something to go on, however I have searched the Trevor Kirkman database and there is no John Kirkman married to a Mary Thompson who had a Henry. My father said recently that he thought Henry was adopted and went to USA so that is a hunch as there must be adoption papers. Another string to follow up. Desley was so helpful and I am so very grateful to both of you. I will keep you informed of my progress. I am planning on visiting the Anglican Archives this week and when I spoke to Desley she mentioned that she had sent you what info they had. Was there any more information of any use to you? Her husband was our local pharmacist up until a few years ago when he sold his business. It is good though that Desley is going to have a look for you. As Desley stated it can be that there is just no more information forthcoming from the couple but I have to say that it is my experience that when it came to doing a duplicate set of records for the Registrar every quarter, the churchwardens or ministers were not that particular. Same goes for NSW and Victorian records, the transcriptions of the church marriages to the registrar can at times be quite scarce. Look forward to seeing if anything comes of it all. She promised to have a look at the record for me, and let me know if there is any additional information. She said that sometimes that information just doesn't exist, but I find it unusual not to even have their ages written into the certificate! Thanks for your interest. I will let you know once I hear anything from Desley. Have a lovely weekend, Sharon Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
