    1. Re: [SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE] SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE Digest, Vol 4, Issue 8
    2. Hello Stirling, If you wanted to reply to the original message you need to click on the link to the message board, or copy and paste the address http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.clk.general/486/mb.ashx Some of the mailing lists get related message board postings. Clackmannan is one of them. I thought perhaps I could help you, but my efforts failed miserably! There was a Robert WILSON b. 07 JAN 1830 and bap./chr. 10 JAN 1830 Dollar, Clackmannan, Scotland. He was the son of Robert WILSON and Ann HENDERSON. Found Robert WILSON and Ann with many children on the 1841 and 1851 Scotland Census in Dollar, Clackmannan, but the above son Robert was not with them. The following is what I found in Ancestry.com's Scotland Census Indexes in case you get more information at a later date (more records seem to be available every day and we all keep searching and hoping when we reach brick walls): 1841 Scotland Census Name: Robert Wilson Age: 40 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1801 Gender: Male Where born: Clackmannanshire, Scotland Civil Parish: Dollar County: Clackmannanshire Address: Newryhead Occupation: Ag Lab Parish Number: 467 Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Robert Wilson 40 Ann Wilson 36 William Wilson 14 Helen Wilson 13 Janet Wilson 9 Anne Wilson 7 James Wilson 5 Thomas Wilson 3 Peter Wilson 1 Robert Harrover 30 Please note that the ages of people over 15 years old were usually rounded down to the nearest 5 years on the 1841 Census. 1851 Scotland Census Name: Robert Wilson Age: 52 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1799 Relationship: Head Spouse's Name: Ann Gender: Male Where born: Dollar, Clackmannansh Parish Number: 467 Civil Parish: Dollar County: Clackmannanshire Address: Newrowhead Occupation: Watchman Bleachworks Dollar ED: 5 Page: 9 (click to see others on page) Household schedule number: 30 Line: 12 Roll: CSSCT1851_97 Household Members: Name Age Robert Wilson 52 Ann Wilson 45 Janet Wilson 19 Thomas Wilson 13 Peter Wilson 10 Elisabeth Wilson 8 John Wilson 6 Ann said she was b. in Fossaway, Kinross Sh. All the children b. in Dollar, Clackmannansh (and are in the extracted records found in the IGI at FamilySearch.org). Tried to find your Robert on the 1841 Scotland Census, but the 1841 does not give enough information to really identify someone if they are not with their family. Found one "maybe" with a family in Paisley, Renfrew. Definitley not in Ancestry.com's 1851 Scotland Census index, not even a Robert WILSON b. 1831 +/-5 in the county of Clackmannan. Also tried the parish name Dollar. Also tried the 1861 Scotland and England and did not find him so presume he stayed in Ireland until he migrated to Australia. Hoping you find your answers some day, Linda > I have a Robert WILSON born reputedly in Dollar, Fifeshire 1832. > Unfortunately I have no records in Scotland. > Married Mary Jane Hayes of Kildress Co. 3. Steve I bought my copy from the Tourist Information Centre in Alva. It's published by Clackmannan District Libraries. you can contact them on libraries@clacks.gov.uk The reference to "Dickie's Inn" includes: The Inn, owned by 49 year old widow, Elizabeth Dickie, born Menstrie, occupied premises which are part of the present Hollytree Inn... Elizabeth Dickie was the proprietor from 1880, or earlier, ..... The age of Elizabeth Dickie appears to have been taken from the 1871 census.
