John was born on 22 Dec 1765 in Alloa. The only child I have for them is Christian Michie who was born in Alloa on 01 Feb 1795. According to the IGI, John's parents were David Michie and Christian Wilson. It does seem that there are a lot of records for Michie families in Alloa. But perhaps James and John were brothers. Their birth dates are fairly close together. Cheers, Liz Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Sometimes the registrars used odd spellings and sometimes the trandscriber at SP messed up the names on the link. I'd try it twice, reversing the placement of the surnames in the search windows, so that an alternate name of either name will appear. I have done a lot of research in the Clackmannanshire records (and have three lines of Paterson's in my tree!)and the record keeping there was comparatively quite good for both birth and marriage OPRs. If you cannot find either person baptized at Alloa, it may be that they were born and or married elsewhere where record keeping was not so good...What was James Michie's occupation? Hello Jenny I was interested to see that you had transcribed a Film of Sassines Clackmannan 1781-1868. Sorry I cant help with the wording and abbreviations. However, I'm wondering what is the aim of your transcribing. Will it be available to researchers such as myself and if so by what medium? My interest is mainly in the surname CARR/KER/KERR and their spouses i.e. David KER Chr 23 Mar 1731 Clackmannan parents David KER and Janet FITT/FUTT spouse Christian HUTTON father William HUTTON David and Christian had at least 9 children and my ancestor is their son David CARR/KERR Chr 6 Jan 1771 Dollar Clackmannan. Hi, I have been typing up transcriptions of Births for various Counties for my web pages and I am wondering about the amount of information recorded. Was there are set pattern for the earlly years eg I find not only the birth of the child but place, parents including mothers maiden name, ages, their place of birth and marriage date and place. Not sure that this applied to every county so I am wondering if may have depended on the Registar?? It seems later years were not as informative. Perhaps someone can help here. Dear List Was wondering if 9 Mar St. was a residential address or business in 1911. I have a ancestor who lived there. When she immigrated to the US she said her contact was an uncle William Graham in 1911 and her daughter must of stayed there until she immigrated in 1919 when she listed him as a contact. Christina Fulton's husband died in Sept. 1911 and she immigrated to New York in 1911. She must of left her daugher Margaret (age 8) with her uncle William. Margaret immigrated to New York in 1919 at the age of 16. Is it possible to look up Kelly's directory for 1911 and 1919 to see if William Graham is listed. Thanks Joan B.C. Canada
