The name is extremely rare, so I expect that he is the same man as noted in your message. I would be most interested to hear more about the Mustarts of Alloa. 1. [SCT-CLACKMANNANSHIRE] Maitland Brewing Family - Alloa
    2. archie gilbert
    3. I have just subscribed to this list for one reason only. I am hoping to contact anybody researching the Maitland Family who were brewers in Alloa. Charles Maitland was the senior partner in Meiklejohn's brewery in Alloa c 1856-1898. I have no connection with the Family, but a second cousin in Lanark has in his possession, two Family Bibles of significant interest to anybody connected with the Maitlands. He also has a portrait of "Granny Gardyne". This was how the subject was described to him by Mrs. Cummings, widow of Dr. Cummings in Lanark. When Mrs. Cummings died, her executors sold off many personal items, including the portrait and bibles, which my cousin took a fancy to. He is now anxious that they should be returned to rightful and/or interested parties. Hope this mail bears fruit ! Archie Gilbert.

I have googled and noticed a couple. The main one seems to be the Alloa and Hillfoots Advertiser. Maybe if you contact them, they will publicise a request for you looking for current relatives. Also www.192.com may bring up Marshall's who still live in the area for where you are looking. Good luck with your search. Author: vzubie Surnames: Marshall Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.scotland.clk.general/505/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi All, I am looking for Marshalls who are still living in Alloa. My grandfather, John, was born there in 1902 to William and Christina. He had three sisters - Jane, Elizabeth and Christina and one brother - Alexander. As far as I can tell, John was the only one who immigrated to Canada in the 1910's. Our family is planning a trip to Scotland next year and we are hoping to meet some relatives. Also, I'm trying to track down where and when my grandfather died. He was married in Toronto, joined the Canadian Army, served in Belgium and when he was discarged in 1946, he returned to Belgium. My mom has not heard from him since 1965 - and he was quite ill then. I have contacted the British & Canadian Embassies in Belgium and both told me to contact Antwerp - where he was living. Unfortunately, Antwerp has told me that they do not do private searching and that I would need to have the date of death. Any suggestions on how I go about doing that?? I don't even know if he died there for sure. This has been a pretty frustrating journey for me and I would appreciate any help. Thanks! We are related with the common ancerstors you mention. The Isdales are a bit of a mystery, I can't get much further back. There are a lot of Isdales in Dunning which is close by, but I can't see any direct link. Isdales also crop up in Tillicoultry (where I was born) but again no obvious link to Auchterarder. In Auchterarder today there is a house called Isdale Park and Isdales in the graveyard, but I've had no luck finding links. I'm happy to share info with you and would be interested to know where our lines diverge. Regards Bill Ross Australia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
