Hi Stuart, You ask if anyone is researching the BAIN and HENDERSON names from Caithness (Wick). I'm researching these names but can't say that I have any information that would be of any help to you! However, in the hope that there might be some connection, I'll list the meager information that I have. My Great Grandmother was Catherine PETRIE of Wick, and she was born there abt. 1850. Her oldest daughter, my Grandmother, was Isabella BAIN MOYES, born in 1872 in Glasgow, the same year Catherine PETRIE married Andrew MOYES, a mason or tilesetter married Catherine. After Isabella BAIN MOYES married John SWINTON FARQUHAR in Glasgow in 1892, she named her first child George HENDERSON FARQUHAR. As you can see, these relatively common names BAIN and HENDERSON were apparently family names in the Scot's naming tradition and my mother always told us that our family originated in Caithness and the Orkneys, but I've never even found Catherine PETRIE's birth records in Wick, or any information about her parents, George PETRIE and Elizabeth CAMPBELL, except for their names on her marriage certificate! So it is with this very slight information I respond to family names in the Caithness site hoping to make a connection. George Weston Suisun, CA
