Ladies and Gentlemen, there have been a number of messages on the subject of viruses over the past couple of days. May I remind you that it is against the list rules to send messages about viruses!!!! If you must send one, you do so to me and NOT to the list. You CANNOT get a virus through being a member of the list. Rootsweb does not permit attachments, Remember that if you receive a message which looks as though it is from the list and has an attachment, it is not a list message. Remember if any of you reply to the list, when you click "reply all" almost everyone will then have all the list members at that time become items in their address books. Ifa member subsequently catches a virus by opening an attachment from a third party, it will react by sending replicated messages carrying the virus to everyone in the victim's address book and that will of course include all the list members. That does not mean the virus came through the list. Just remember if you spread a false virus alert and because of you others delete perfectly good and important files from their computers, you have achieved the work of the virus writers because you have helped spread fear and chaos to others, albeit innocently. Think before you send such messages and if you think there is a virus, please check one of the anti-virus company web-sites for known viruses and hoaxes. Many of these things have a habit of returning every few months. Regards, Mark Listowner
