Dear List, Through the marvellous assistance of a list member I have knocked down the 'brick wall' that I have been bashing my head against for years. I have now located my 4 x g.grandfather, George OAL/AULD, born C1760, and his son - my 3 x g.grandfather, Alexander OAL/AULD, born C1790, both in the Wick area. Both are described as 'Weavers'. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries in Caithness would weavers have worked for their own account as a 'cottage' industry? I should be delighted to hear from anyone with knowledge of this family or weaving in Caithness. Thanks in advance. Stuart, Edenbridge, Kent
