Dear Jenny, My Jane DALLAS (aka Jean DORRACH, DORROCH, DARRAH, DURROCH) died in 1855 at age 59 in Wick and this would put her birth at about 1795. However she was born in Glasgow, not Caithness. She married Donald PETRIE (farmer) on June 10, 1816 in Glasgow. She had her first and second children, George (1817), Jean (1819) in Glasgow and the moved (back?) to Wick in time for the birth of her third child Margaret on 30 Apr. 1819. On her death certificate it said she lived in Wick for 30 years, but it must have been more like 35 years. She is buried in the churchyard at Wick. Her parents were Donald DALLAS (seaman) and ?DALLAS? (ms unknown). This information came from Norma Thain the list owner of the RootsWeb PETRIE-Scotland site and was taken from Scottish Records office Ref. 1855 Wick (Landward) entry 79. I don't know if this helps and I have some further information on her children, etc.... two of whom ended up in Australia, one courtesy of the Crown and the other following along to be of help when her brother was released from prison!
