Hi, I also may be related to the Dallas family of Caithness! My Great Grandmother was Catherine PETRIE, born about 1850 in Wick. She listed on her marriage certificate in 1872 (in Glasgow) to Andrew BAIN (of Fife) that her parents were George PETRIE and Elizabeth CAMPBELL both deceased by 1872. George was supposed to be a Blacksmith according to the marriage certificate but he may have been a shoemaker.....I can find no record of Catherine's birth in Wick in 1850/1 or of the marriage of her parents! However the oldest son of Jane DALLAS was a George PETRIE.......Jane DALLAS died in 1855 and is buried at the churchyard in Wick.....her son George is listed on her death certificate....if anyone can help me with this I'd certainly appreciate it! Two other George PETRIES are listed in the 1841 and 1851 census'....one is an Irish farm labourer and the other is a George PETRIE, oldest son of George PETRIE , shoemaker, and his wife Helen MALCOLM!
