Anyway, I'll take note of any further PETRIES I come across. Good luck Celeste
Hi Celeste The information you gave with the Caithness births and marriages is great thanks. I am linked to Petrie from Caithness. The marriage you listed of William Petrie to Catherine Gun. William is my half 4g Uncle. His parents were Donald Petrie b 1734 d 1775 and Mary Sutherland. Mary married again after Donald's death to Magnus Cormack my 4 g grandfather. There were no children from William Petrie and Catherine Gun. My Donald b 1734 most likely links to George Weston's line but we have yet to prove it. Very close though :) What is your link to the Caithness Petries? Tricia born Patricia MORE, Wick Caithness now in Banbury UK
Hi Tricia, I don't have any link to PETRIE. I thought the idea of the Mailing List was that we help each other if at all possible. Whilst doing my own family research I noted down the PETRIE names that I found as I knew that George W. was seeking information. If I can, I don't mind helping anyone. I've also been taking a note of the name OAL as I knew someone else was looking for information - I also have OAL in my family. I've yet to put my OAL information on the Caithness mailing list. I notice you are a MORE. I also have MORE in my family ... going back to 1725 with James More (Sarclet). My ggg grandmother was Elizabeth More, born 29 Dec 1803 Sarclet, and married to Donald Anderson, Sarclet. Happy hunting, Celeste
Hi Celeste I have sent this also as a separate email to you. Yes the idea of a mailing list is helping one another where possible. I agree. With your posts re Petrie I had wondered if in fact you had links to Petrie > We are related although not via the PETRIE lines. > > Elizabeth More b 1803 was my ggg aunt. > Her parents James More and Helen Robson were my ggg grandparents. > > I am at work at this morning so I don't have all the information to hand. > > briefly my line goes this way > father Daniel b 1915 (know as Adin) More married to Margaret MacDougall > Grandfather Daniel Campbell More married to Annie Cormack Johnston > G Grandfather James More married to Christina Campbell > GG Grandfather John More married to Margaret Budge > GGG grandfather James More married to Helen Robson Look forward to hearing further from you. > > Tricia > Born Patricia MORE in WICK > currently living in Banbury England ----- Original Message ----- From: "n sabatini" <reiss@clara.co.uk> To: <SCT-CAITHNESS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 15, 2003 10:27 PM Subject: Re: PETRIE > Hi Tricia, > > I notice you are a MORE.
