Hi all Can anyone help please My GGGG Grandfather James MacDonald b1794 Reay died in Thurso 1857. His death certificate states "buried in Reay churchyard not certified" What does " not certified " mean ? Regards Derek
On death certificates I have in my possession, they say that the person was buried..... "as certified by........., Sexton", so from this I would assume that the Sexton is certifying that the person is in fact buried where they say. In your case I would assume that the wording means that the Sexton has not certified that James MacDonald has in fact been buried in Reay churchyard.
