Hi! My name is Kate Brial. I am researching my ancestors - the Taylor and Fletcher families from Wick, Caithness. Although Peter Taylor (my great great grandfather) was born in Aberdeen, he moved to Wick where he met and married Ann Fletcher in 1857. My great grandfather, Peter Fletcher Taylor (1861) was born in Wick. His siblings were sisters Margaret Taylor born Wick in 1858 - she died before 1909 (whereabouts unknown), and Ann Taylor born 1862 (believed born in Aberdeen). Ann was still alive in 1914. Thomas Fletcher was born in Edinburgh (about 1794). He married Margaret Crane (born about 1794 - Edinburgh). They married in Edinburgh in 1812 but had moved to Wick by about 1820. Thomas was a ropemaker. They had eight children including my great great grandmother - Ann Fletcher who became the wife of Peter Taylor. Both Thomas and his wife Margaret died at Wick in 1873 only a few months apart.
