I'm searching for information on Donald RYRIE married to Janet CRAIG c.1799. I believe his parents were John RYRIE and Elizabeth MCADDIE. Somehow a connection between John RYRIE and William RYRIE (married to Isobel JACK or JOCK about 1765). William's parents may have been John RYRIE and Jean BRUCE married 10 Jun 1721. Any help greatly appreciated. Lynn
A question that someone may be able to answer: Some years back I received a transcription from an agent- my Mackay family on the 1881 census- all present and correct. I now own the 1881 census CD's and cannot find the family anywhere. They have vanished! How is this possible? Joan - Sydney --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. In one well known case, for example, the county name was incorrect for a large number of entries. I would assume that your transcription is correct, but if you're concerned - the easiest way to confirm is to get the microfilm of the original and check yourself. BTW, this is also a caution for others who can't find an entry on the CD. It might well be worth the expense/effort to check on Scots Origins or trawl through the microfilm (assuming you have an idea of location). Sheila

My wifes people were Munro's from Strath Halladale, and we have a problem finding their graves which should be at Bunahoun Cemetary but no stone is to be found. The only option we find is that it may be the stone that has fallen face down. Has any one any ideas We are from New Zealand and have been in the Strath 4 times but did not like to interfere with the stone We will be back. Alan & Heather Duthie Te Anau NZ.
Hi Listers, Joan and Marilyn. I have a family of LEVACK's in my LARNACH family. Does any of the following ring any bells with you folks. Margaret Jane Isabel LARNACH c 11 December 1843 Watten married John Grant LEVACK ON 28 December 1871 in Halkirk. (He could have been the son of Donald LEVACK and Margaret SUTHERLAND and could have been born on 22 March 1830???) They had three children. I only have the name of one, but heard that they had three sons. The one I know of was William Larnach Tennyson LEVACK and he was born on 16 October 1874 at Saddell & Skipness, Argyll. He married Elizabeth WILLIAMSON of Leuchars, Fife. William and Elizabeth had one son that I know of, John Grant LEVACK who was born on the 26 April 1908 and died 16 October 1999. John Grant LEVACK was a minister and I have found a copy of his Obituary where I have got alot of this information. I am pretty sure William Larnach Tennyson LEVACK was also a minister. I have found one William Larnach Levack who emigrated to New Zealand, so will try and get his certificate shortly (now that they have trebled the price of a photocopy in NZ). He would have to be related to this lot. If any of this information rings any bells, I would dearly love to hear from anyone who can help me out. Kind Regards, Marilyn Parker Whitianga NZ I > > #1 Re: LEVACK surname [Marilyn <mannmow@shaw.ca>] > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > Subject: Re: LEVACK surname > Date: Sat, 05 Jan 2002 15:38:55 -0800 > From: Marilyn <mannmow@shaw.ca> > To: SCT-CAITHNESS-L@rootsweb.com > > Hi Joan: > > Did any member(s) of your LEVACK family immigrate to Ontario, Canada? > > Regards, > Marilyn Mowat > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "rkenn78524" <rkenn78524@msn.com> > To: <SCT-CAITHNESS-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: January 5, 2002 3:07 PM > Subject: LEVACK surname > > > Hello ~ > > > > Is anyone out there looking for LEVACKS?
