Hi and gday to you cousin Yes Greg It certainly looks like we have a hit YIPPEEEEEE. I believe that your Jean Brodie b 3 dec 1809 and my Jane Brodie b 1805 were sisters both born to James Brodie and Isobel Laurance. At this moment in time I have done no research on the Laurance name but will start over the next period to do so and will keep you fully informed. I am in the north east of England UK in a place named Sunderland. Isnt Genealogy just great. I downloaded your file on the Brodie family and with your permission will add to my tree. Dare I ask about your Oliver family from Jedburgh becouse I am also decended from Oliver on maternal side and my Olivers come from Hexham area which is not that far from Jedburgh. looking forward to hearing from you. Hi there if you find a James Lawrance/Laurance/Laurence, Feuar, in your search born around 1750ish in Banffshire or Aberdeen, let me know. His daughter Ann Lawrance born around 1789 is my great great grandmother. The census and her death certificate say she was born King Edward, Aberdeen. But she lived in Banff from before 1841 until her death in 1872. Although she had at least one child Jessie Elliot, father John Elliot, Druggist, her status on census and death say single. That does not mean that she was not married as after the death of spouse women often reverted to their single status or name. Wife of James Lawrance unknown. Lawrance is a particularly difficult surname to research in that area, I have even used professional researcher and have not found James. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who had a James Lawrance or similar spelling around that period.
