Hullo Kate, there's an Ancestral File within FamilySearch which seems to cover your family of Margaret Sim and Robert Still right up to 1965: was it indeed your submission? My interest is in another daughter of James Sim and Elspet Mitchell: Mary SIM was born 30-May-1803 Banff. She married James GEDDES 15-Mar-1828 in Fordyce (perhaps there's an OPR record in Banff too), and they ended up with lots of family at Melrose Gamrie. As James Geddes was born in Fordyce, and from the farming community, the chances are he's one of 'mine', and I'm trying to identify him but so far it's proved impossible. What I can say with absolute certainty is that the Ancestral File's statement that he was born 26-Sep-1792 Fordyce is incorrect: the James Geddes bpt that day died 4-Aug-1817 age 25 according to an MI in Fordyce churchyard. James Geddes h/o Mary Sim seems to have died before 1855 and there is no burial record surviving. I have gathered a fair amount of info about the James Geddes / Mary Sim family, but nothing helps to pin down the identity of this James Geddes. Can you add any insights? Howard Geddes
