I have John Elder and Janet Cowie in my husband's family.. daughter Elspet Elder b.1752 m John Gammie.. I have 8 known children from that family all born in Fordyce, Banff Helen b. 1747, Isobel b. 1749, William b. 1750, Elspet, John b. 1754, George b. 1756, Janet b. 1759, and James b. 1762 Janet Cowie was probably born 1720 to William Cowie.. in Ordiquhill and too old to have another child in 1774 she married John Elder 26 Jul 1746 in Ordiquhill so father of your Ann Elder.. b 1774.. could have been William, John, or even George from the above family.. regards from Georgia, USA, Colette Pirie
