If you go to the GENUKI site, specifically to the Boyndie list of Place-names, which you can see at: http://www.abdnet.co.uk/genuki/BAN/Boyndie/locations.html , you will see that Baldavie Cottage, as such, was last heard of in the 1881 Census. That doesn't mean it no longer exists, it may now be contained within a group of cottages or buildings round the main farm [?] or have another name. We have recorded all the Place-names in Boyndie in most of the Census films and various maps [see the site for details]. We have identified as many Census locations as possible on modern maps but unheralded changes of name are very difficult to cross identify. You can see from the list where the various Baldavie locations are to be found. This will give you a reasonable place to start in your search "on the ground". Even if you can't identify the exact building, you will at least be able to see the sort of locality your g-grandfather lived and worked in. Good hunting Ray Hennessy
