Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ReC.2ACI/2789.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Alan, Since posting on the message board, I've gotten a response from a woman who does freelance work at Register office in Edinburgh. She was able to find a marriage for "Sandy" which gave his residence as 12 Castle Street, Aberdeen. His marriage to Elizabeth Ann Main (of Nairn) took place in Aberdeen in 1925. I wrote a letter to a newspaper in Scotland called the 'Northern Scot' and received an email from Ernest Cumming's wife, Ivy. She told me that their family had never been told about "Sandy", so I assume that William Brodie Cumming and his son ("Sandy") didn't stay in touch at all. Ivy was very surprised to hear about "Sandy" and is now very intrigued to find out more information if she can. "Sandy" would have been her husband's half-brother, one he never knew existed! I'm not sure where "Sandy" and his wife, Elizabeth went after they were married. The woman at the Register office searched death records up until the present day and could not find a death record for "Sandy" or his wife, and I doubt that he's still living at the age of 104! I assume that he may have gone to England or Australia or even the U.S. or Canada. I'm not sure where to go next with my search since no one seems to know anything about him and I don't know which country he may have moved to. My family is wondering why William Brodie Cumming wouldn't have married my great-grandmother, Christina when she got pregnant with "Sandy". Although, this seems to be a common occurence with my paternal ancesters. Each one of my great-grandfather's (Alexander Walker Barron) sister's had at least one illegitimate child, and I don't think any of them married the fathers of these children. I'm assuming that Ivy (wife or Ernest Cumming) would also be in touch with her in-laws, Kathleen and Jock and have asked them about "Sandy". If not, do have contact information for them? Thanks for your help. Maggie Barron
