He emigrated to Victoria, Australia abt 1857 where he married a Jane Elizabeth BROWNE in March 1861. On his marriage certificate his parents were named as Alexander ROBINSON and Mary GILL. It has been suggested that James was born Gamrie but have been unable to find him on 1841 or 1851 census in Gamrie.

This could be the family.Searched Banffshire and couldn't find. But 1841 Aberdeenshire ( next door to Banffshire).
