I was in the library yesterday checking CLAYTON and ADAM OPRs and found this one entry which I want to share with the List: Banff 1785 John CLYTON 5 son named after John HARDEN servant to the Earle of Fife --------------------------------- (new column) John CLYTON Servant to the Earle of Fife. Lawfull son of John CLYTON labourer in Walsh Moor Montgomerie Shire in Wals (sic) in England and Gwen MORRICE his wife. Jean SMITH, lawfull daughter of Aleck SMITH some time Black Smith in Banff and Margaret IMLACK his wife ----------------------------------------------------------------- Born: 3 June 1785, Baptised 23 June 1785. Wit: John CONN. John WATTIS Servants to the Earle Of Fyfe ---------------------------------------------------------------- There were plenty of other similarly rich entries including deaths. Some Parish clerks really took their job seriously and we benefit. I checked this entry with the IGIs and he was the 5th son but the father is named as Joseph CLAYTON and the dates are not exactly the same either which I find odd as the handwriting was very clear and the spelling unique.
