I wonder if anyone can help me locate in 1841 a James DUFF poss Rev b Auchindachy 1810 had an affair with Isbel INNES in Forgie 1839 resulting in son John DUFF b Dec 1839 Boharm Bpt Jan 1840.In 1847 he was assistant minister at New Spynie and in 1852 moved to Crieff as minister.I know he graduated from Aberdeen in 1831 but have no knowledge of him until 1839 and then 1847.Was he Rev in the Forgie area or schoolteacher? I have his son John having an affair in 1856 with Margaret GORDON of Lime Kilns Maisley resulting in Dau Jane DUFF b Maisley in 1857 and who in 1871 was with her father and his wife Jane GARDINER in Cullen.John was with his mother Isbel INNES in Forgie in 1841 and looks as though from c 1851 to 1857 he was in Broadrashes a farm near Keith.Next door in Broadrashes in 1851 was Robert DUFF and his wife and daughter unsure of the relationship.John was married in Cullen in 1862 but where was he in 1861? His father James died at the Mains of Auchindachy near Keith in 1860 but I have no reason to suspect that John was in attendance. There was an aunt Catherine TURNER nee Duff living at Auchmore in Rathven but again I find no evidence to link John with her. Also an uncle Thomas DUFF at the Mains of Auchindachy but again no suggestion that he was with him.On his marriage certificate in 1862 he registered his father as John DUFF and his mother as Isbel INNES and his normal place of res! idence as Drumblade.Again I can find no evidence in support of this. Appreciate any assistance in furthering my research Sincerely Alex
